Trumac Retail Pvt Ltd makes buying plumbing, electrical and construction material simple for hardware counters. Everybody has the brands. What makes Trumac worth buying from is whether the size is on the shelf on the day you are asked for it, whether somebody turns up, and whether you can see where your account stands without ringing anyone.
The godown is where the stock and the lorries are. The office is in Kandivali West, on the other side of the Ghodbunder road. Between them run five field rounds a week over five areas — Mira-Bhayandar, Borivali, Kandivali, Malad and Goregaon — and 1,290 counters are on the book on that basis.
We hold stock rather than book against orders. It costs more and it is the only reason a counter can ring at eleven and have a 110 mm stack on the next run. It is also why the ranges on this site are the sizes that move rather than the whole of 4,280 SKUs: the deep sizes are the service, the long tail is a catalogue.
The round runs on software we built for it. Every counter, bill, promise and collection is in one system, on the salesman's phone at your counter, which is how you are told what you owe and what is short without a call to the office. A notebook cannot be read from two places at once; our book can.
That is the idea Trumac started on: buying material should be simple for the person buying it. The technology is how we keep it simple as the book grows.
